A Woman in a Man’s Profession
I can’t imagine living in the time that Claire is. She is a woman in a man’s world, doing a man’s job as a hired gun. Because she is a woman, she is perceived to be unfit for certain aspects of the job. For example, she is not permitted to join the posse to hunt down the murderer of her coworker. She does have more freedom than most women of this time. Men have to be tricked into working with her. So she lowers her voice and dresses as a man to be able to help escort a prisoner. And then the fun begins! Good story with some historical characters from the past. I received an advance copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. This is the 3rd western written by D V Berkom and they all contain Claire as a strong female protagonist.
