Read this book AFTER Mercy of Gods
Fantastic story from the authors! It functions great as a standalone short story (the only overt reference to MoG are the Carryx races), but there are possible spoilers for the first book. I’d highly recommend reading the first book, and THEN reading this, and then reading the first book again.
A parable of war
Humans weren’t meant for war, for killing. War destroys the insides of us, kills what it means to be human, wrecks what the Judeo-Christian faiths call God’s image in us. This story tells us that.
Great little story
Very entertaining. Excited to see where this overall story goes. The novella gives off “The Forever War” and “Starship Trooper” vibes mixed with maybe a little “Judas Unchained”.
