Looking Ahead

Looking ahead to see what the future will bring,
finding that we’re no better than when we began.
Stumbling along in need of a song to sing,
life is a journey that we struggle to plan.

Looking ahead for another surprise,
good or bad we’ll take it in stride.
Learning experiences to open our eyes,
helping us with choices we must decide.

Looking ahead for a better life,
some place that we can call home.
A place that’s calm and free of strife,
to safely walk and maybe even roam.

Looking ahead is not always easy,
looking back is not always pleasant.
Living with the past can be uneasy.
We can only deal with the present.

Looking ahead is all about choices,
make the right ones and life will be good,
make the wrong ones and life is pointless.
Life can be good when it is understood.

Looking ahead to another place and time,
when troubles and woes will be left behind.
When peace will prevail and with no more crime,
all questions will be answered to ease the mind.
