A Scarlet and Ivy novel!

The Lost Twin by Sophie Cleverly is a young adult novel. Scarlet Grey, Ivy’s twin sister, was attending the Rookwood School. Ivy was told that Scarlet died, but Ivy has her doubts. Then Ivy receives a notice that she is going to attend the school. Ivy is not given a choice. Miss Guinevere Fox is the headmistress. She informs Ivy that she is to take her sister’s place (literally). She will answer to the name Scarlet and should act like her. Ivy is reluctant to do it, but she decides it will give her an opportunity to find out what really happened to Scarlet. Ivy settles into life at Rookwood and starts looking for answers. Ivy discovers that Scarlet did leave something behind. There are clues that lead her to her sister’s journal. Pages of the journal are hidden all around the school. Ivy just needs to follow the clues to find the pages hidden locations. Some of them are tricky and hard to get to, but when one is determined, nothing is impossible. Can Ivy find out what happened to Scarlet? Is there a chance that Scarlet is still alive? You will have to read The Lost Twin to find out!

The Lost Twin is a short book (shorter than most books). It does have a good pace and is easy to read. The writing is satisfactory and the mystery is interesting. I liked how Ivy followed Scarlet’s clues and the clues were intriguing. I give The Lost Twin 3.5 out of 5 stars. The one thing that I did not like was the ending. I found the ending to be abrupt (it happened to quickly) and unsatisfactory. The book is left unfinished, and we have to wait for the next novel (like the cliffhanger on a television shows season finale) to come out (extremely frustrating). I am not sure yet if I will read the next book or not. I will wait and see what it is about and then make my decision. While this book is geared towards young adults, I believe older readers will enjoy The Lost Twin as well.

I received a complimentary copy of The Lost Twin from NetGalley (thanks to the publisher) in exchange for an honest evaluation.
