Publisher Description
The runaway New York Times bestseller!
Can a simple concept shift your entire world? Bob certainly thinks so. When it comes to loving your neighbors, rather than focusing on having the "right answers" or checking the "right boxes," what if you decide to simply DO love? To shamelessly show love and grace to those around you? What would that look like?
It might look like spending sixteen days in the Pacific Ocean with five guys and a crate of canned meat. It might look like taking your kids on a world tour to eat ice cream with heads of state. It might look like taking a road trip with a stressed-out college student--even though you just got married a few days before.
In Love Does, Bob shows you:
how to live a fully engaged lifehow to stop putting things off until "next time" and instead find your place of imagination, whimsy, and wonder todaythat God usually chooses ordinary people to get things done
When love does, life gets interesting. Light and fun, unique and profound, the lessons drawn from Bob's life and attitude in this collection of stories just might inspire you to be secretly incredible, too. If you love Love Does, don't forget to check out Everybody, Always and Dream Big for more of Bob's delightful and inspiring stories!
PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
It's not every author who puts his or her phone number in the front of a book, inviting readers to call if any ideas "ping" them. But judging by the breadth of experiences retailed in this volume of autobiographical stories, Goff, a successful lawyer and founder of the international child advocacy group Restore International, has charted his own optimistic and ebullient course for decades without veering anywhere near the beaten track. In a folksy and candid style that sometimes seems to beg for editorial ministrations, the writer spins some fascinating yarns, from the winsome sit-in that won him a place in law school to a family world tour prompted by questions his children sent global leaders after the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. Paired with reflections on God's purposes and faithful living, the stories are engaging and often funny. However, a reader is left satiated, questioning whether perhaps a writer with a wider-angled lens and a tauter style could have tied the various strands together in a way that truly does this eccentric and apparently eternally hopeful man the justice he probably deserves.
Customer Reviews
The book I recommend to everyone
This book is funny, insightful, motivating, and challenges you. By far the best book I have had the joy of reading and can't wait to DO more in life. Hope Mr Goff picks up his pen again soon.
So inspiring
This book was just what I needed to be reminded of love and what it can do. Now to figure out what I can do with my love.
Thank you!
A blessing to read, reflect and question our current trajectory. It reaffirmed my decision to move across the continent from west to east, leave oppression, renew my passion for Nursing education and begin living in peace with a thankful heart.
