Love Like Poison was full of passion!
I absolutely loved how Sabella and Angelo met since it was not what I was anticipating! Angelo made no apology for who he is, what he does and how he gets what he wants, and I relished that about him. “Sabella [was] straightforward and uncomplicated” until a certain point in the book, and I did feel for her. She “gave him my love and my hate,” and through it all I could feel their passion! The ending was not what I was expecting (although I knew it would be a cliffhanger), and I can’t wait to read what happens next!

Too toxic of a book series
It’s well written don’t get me wrong, just too toxic for me to continue reading..
Angelo and Sabella

I had the pleasure of reading the book and listening to the audiobook for the first book in the Corsican Crime Lord series and oh boy what an enthralling, tension filled storyline that holds one’s attention. Sabella was a young girl of sixteen when she met Angelo and unbeknownst to her, she was promised to him as an arranged marriage. However, Sabella’s father seems to have selective memory when it comes to making the deal between his daughter and Angelo and this is the beginning of a chain of events that has serious repercussions for Sabella. It is an intense, emotional, heartbreaking tale with betrayal, obsession and a whole lot more. Ms. Pauls has a writing style that is all-encompassing and has one feeling everything. The narrators do a wonderful job feeding off of each other to give listeners the characters’ depth as if they were actually there. It does end in a cliffhanger and I cannot wait for the next book to release. I recommend this book.
