The Witch Hunter...
Short and sweet: its your typical WHFB novel, but with the bar raised due to awesome characters and their development. All the things you love and hate about the Empire and the Old World are in here but better. Yes the main character/title is the Empire's pious icon of faith ,Luthor Huss and Wraight did an awesome job with him, I particularly liked how he got his name and was raised up as an orphan. However, it is the "supporting cast" of characters that really make this book shine. My favorite was the jaded veteran Witch Hunter Lukas and his henchman Udo. Wraight knocked it out of the park with his three dimensional character building, he really dives into the back story of each character so you have a really good understanding of why the way they are. To be honest- I wish the novel was about Lukas and Udo instead.
Anyway, if you are a fan of Warhammer Fantasy or not, I HIGHLY recommend this book- its has an interesting mysterious plot, visceral brutal action scenes and some of the best character development and original characters for the WHFB setting to date. Wraight's style is smooth and enjoyable and holds his own at the table with ADB, McNeill, Earl, King and Abnett.
I really hope to see more novels from Wraight because he is currently my new favorite BL author!
Inside the book you will find:
Undead/Zombies
Chaos cultist
Mercenaries
Witch Hunters
Woodsmen/rangers
Beastmen
Drakwald Forrest
And some of the best well rounded WHFB characters to come around in a long time!
Awesome book
