When I wake up, I find myself trapped in the arms of the man who was supposed to be my fierce protector. My sweet first love is a criminal, the son of a powerful mafia boss. And his best friend Marco—the terrifying, heavily-muscled man who abducted me—is a brutal enforcer.
They say they can't let me go, or their enemies might hurt me.
Despite everything, my heart still belongs to Joseph, and I can’t help surrendering to the fiery chemistry between us.
Marco’s rigid rules infuriate me, but his steady onyx stare and stern orders make something darker than anger burn low in my belly.
They swear they’ve kidnapped me for my own protection, but will staying close to my alluring criminal captors put me in more danger than ever?

Mafia Captive
This is a story of challenges and threatening dangers beyond what is seen.
Good but not for me
I enjoyed aspects of this book, and didn’t think it was written poorly at all. That said, I have identified some issues I have with the book. To preface, I’m all for mafia romance, poly/harem relationships, bdsm/kink, etc. but I struggled with some of those representations in this book—Ashlyn’s consent wasn’t always freely given but demanded/forced from her (which isn’t my issue). the trouble I have is Joseph’s belief that it’s proper consent. Especially where he is into kink and domination. The kink and bdsm community is so adamant about getting proper consent from participating parties (even in acting scenarios) and that isn’t represented in this work. Personally I feel that’s damaging to the community. A sub should always have choice. Ashlyn expressed her discomfort about her Dom’s choices for her and he strong armed her into compliance in multiple cases (especially concerning her state of dress). Through Joseph’s scenes I found myself gritting my teeth and bearing his idea of dominance and control. It is suggested that Ashlyn finds his assertiveness and demands arousing, but I feel like this should have been played up more than it was to make the Dom/sun relationship more consensual than it was (if in Joseph’s pov he was going to maintain she always has a choice to be with him). Either that or just throw the ‘she’s consenting to me’ portion of this out. Genuinely my issue isn’t with the book, just the representation of bdsm/kink consent within it. In some ways I think Ashlyn’s relationship with Marcus is already more consensual and bdsm/kink conforming than Joseph’s. Joseph feels abusive. Marcus feels dominant. And I dislike Joseph justifying his controlling behavior as kink.
So basic
Cliche….
