Timeless Insights Told in a Straight-Forward Fashion
For a person who made his career wearing make-up and acting a part, Gene Simmons pulls no punches and tells it as-it-is about money, entrepreneurship, and success. While other books get into the mindset aspect of success and achievement better then “Me, Inc.” (such as J.F. Straw’s “Mustard Seeds, Shovels, & Mountains”), what Mr. Simmons brings to the table are the right-under-your-nose, practical means to success — and money — that most overlook whilst they look for the magic bullet that will catapult them there. Ideas such as constantly learning, saving money, not wasting money, and having internal drive and confidence are key points; adapting, conforming, and playing the proper role are brought to the forefront in an in-your-face, yet never rude, manner. I wish I had this book when I was in my late-teens or early-twenties. I’m glad I read it now, because “Me, Inc.” is a good kick in the pants for those who not only wish but WANT to achieve more.
Great read for inspiring entrepreneurs. A lot of new material and material we all need to be reminded about.
KISS was one of the greatest hard rock bands of all time (ranked top ten on the VH1 best artists of hard rock special). Gene is a major part of KISS, and he also took center stage for the hilarious Family Jewels TV series. But the book sounds like it is aimed at people with absolutely nobody in their life, and so I couldn't relate. There is value in the work all the time message, but I've found it relayed in a more convincing fashion elsewhere.
