IS IT POSSIBLE FOR A MEMORY TO OUTLIVE ITS OWNER?
Ophelia Browne knows the answer is yes. She knows because she’s been granted the unique gift of finding and caring for those forgotten memories. But now she’s nearing ninety, and Browne women seldom live beyond ninety. Before time runs out Ophelia must find her successor. Someone who can take hold of the gifts and keep the memories from fading.
When broken-hearted Annie Cross shows up on the doorstep of The Memory House Bed and Breakfast, Ophelia knows she is the one. The two women forge a bond of friendship as they sip magical dandelion tea and share stories. When Annie starts to sense the memories Ophelia is delighted, but then a thread of violence begins to unravel and Ophelia fears things have gone too far.
APPLE BOOKS REVIEW
The characters in Memory House captivated us. Elderly, feisty Olivia runs an apothecary and B&B—and she has a gift for “feeling” memories attached to everyday objects. Annie is heartbroken and disillusioned by her city job. When Annie stumbles across Memory House during a road trip, both women’s lives are transformed. We were charmed by this story and intrigued by Olivia’s memory objects, each of which features in another of Bette Lee Crosby’s heartwarming novels about heartache, friendship and love.

A Sweet Story
Loved this story, one of things and love be both lost and found. It revolves around two women, one in her 90's and one almost sixty years younger. Their connection to each other and memories from objects from the past bind them together in a most unusual way.
The writing allows this reader to move easily through the story and while glad for the ending, I was sorry the story was over! Glad to see that this was the first in a series of novels about the special objects introduced in The Memory House. I will be sure to read others in the series!
We all need MAGIC
Memory House is such a sweet story that gives you hope. The characters are likable and relatable and even magical. It was such a pick me up and nice escape from reality. Well done Bette Lee - thanks for the journey.
Memories and Making a Change
Rated 3.5 stars. This is the first book in the Memory House series. This book can be read as a standalone but you know the story continues in the next book. I did enjoy this story even if it isn't my usual genre to read. It was a nice change.
The book blurb adequately describes the storyline so I'm not going to repeat all of that info here. The author did a good job of giving the two main characters, Ophelia and Annie, real emotions and explaining their backgrounds. Can memories be stored in an object? And what do you do with that information, if anything, once you know it? Or is it better to just leave those memories alone?
