Christmas Regency Romances
In How to Kiss a Rogue, Lady Natalie was a shrew and Christian, Lord Knightly was a rake who found her voice annoying and pitied the man who married her. She tried to ruin her friend Poppa in a fit of jealousy catching her in what she thought was a romantic embrace Christian. She wasn't a very likable character and didn't redeem herself until near the end of the book. Christian's feelings towards her turned too quickly from annoyance to love.
In Christmas in the Duke's Embrace, Lady Marina Ellis was seduced by a scoundrel and a result found herself pregnant and cut off from her family in disgrace. Her father sends her away and during the journey she is set upon by highwaymen and left in the snow to die. Evan Lockheart, Duke of Rowley, aka the Duke of Death rescues her and falls in love with her. This was a short Regency romance with some suspenseful moments, a tarnished heroine, and a broken hero.
In One Wicked Christmas, I didn’t like Adam at first. It was clear he was developing feelings for Christina and she for him, but as soon as he realized that he shut her out, ran away from the relationship, and continued his wastrel ways. It wasn’t until two years later when he realizes she had his daughter that he goes after her, but that was after he thought he was just going to use for the time he was visiting his grandfather. He does redeem himself with his care for Christina and their daughter Emily, but I never completely got past my first impression.
