“A heartfelt opposites-attract romance...” —Publishers Weekly
Total opposites. Totally irresistible.
Mickey Chambers is an expert at analyzing modern literature. But when it comes to figuring out her own story, she’s feeling a little lost. At thirty-three, she’s an adjunct instructor with a meager summer class schedule and too many medical bills, courtesy of her chronic illness. Picking up a bartending gig seems perfect. Sure, Mickey’s never done this before, but the gorgeous, grumpy bar owner, Diego Acosta, might be the perfect man to teach the teacher…if he wasn’t so stressed.
Diego is worried he’s running his late wife’s bar into the ground. Add the pressures of returning to college part-time at forty-two, and it’s no wonder he’s making rash decisions. Like hiring the sunny, sexy woman who looks more at home in a library than slinging beers to rowdy barflies, and who turns out to be teaching his online writing course, a complication neither was expecting…
It’s not long before Mickey starts reenergizing The Saloon with cocktails, karaoke and an optimism even Diego can’t ignore. They need to fight their feelings if they want to keep things professional, but all it takes is one sip, one kiss, to shake both their worlds forever…
PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
A widowed bar owner gets a second chance at love with a cash-strapped adjunct professor in this heartfelt opposites-attract romance from Reid (I'll Come Back for You). Optimist Mickey Chambers, a 33-year-old adjunct professor, grapples with finding her place in the world while trying to keep her head above water. With just one class lined up for the summer and dwindling medication to manage her hyperthyroidism, she needs a side job to make ends meet. Grumpy bar owner Diego Acosta, 42, worries he's losing a grip on his late wife's bar. With his recent enrollment in college and the long hours required to manage the bar, Diego needs additional staff. Enter Mickey. Though her sunny disposition seems out of place in the dive and the other employees wager she'll only last a week, Diego gives her a chance. The pair couldn't be more different, but their mutual attraction is undeniable. Their dynamic is complicated, however, when Diego realizes that Mickey's the professor of his summer course. Reid skillfully navigates Diego's grief for his wife and guilt over finding new love and balances these heavier themes with Mickey's infectious lightheartedness. The resulting slow burning will-they, won't-they romance is sure to win fans.

A random bar interview
Let me start off by saying this book was simply AMAZING. I loved everything about it was the right amount sexy, realness, and romance. Being a Columbus native made it all the better I was able to go on a little scavenger hunt with all the trade marks from the book. I had been to the Fountain City Cafe before but this time I got the Almond Joy which is the name of the drink Mickey ordered the first time. This book is filled with great detail as is but being able to actually be in the same space just took it to a new level. I would like to say thank you to Cherish Reid because of this book I went out and enjoyed myself at a bar which meant a lot because I’m currently going through a break up from a long term boyfriend. TMI I know but because of your book I found my love for reading again.
