Publisher Description

This official Minecraft novel is an epic battle for survival! When humans enter the End, a pair of endermen must decide which side they’re really on.

For as long as they can remember, the twin endermen Fin and Mo have lived in the mysterious land of the End. On the outskirts of the great enderman city of Telos, they explore ancient ruins under the watchful gaze of the mighty ender dragon. They have everything they need in the end ship they call home, and know everything there is to know about their world—or so they think until the strangers from another dimension arrive.

The invaders are called humans, and they’ve come to steal artifacts and slay the ender dragon. Fin and Mo are ready to protect their home from the trespassers, but when they come face-to-face with the humans, they discover that they aren’t as prepared for battle as they’d thought. Caught off guard, the twins are trapped in the middle of a war between the endermen and the humans, with the future of their home at stake.

I love and hate this book

First of all: this is an amazing novel! I love the story and the characters and just everything! But that’s also why I hate this book. I loved everything so much that the ending of the book left me a bit disappointed and dissatisfied. (Spoilers ahead!Skip to the - if you don’t want to be spoiled) Like, I feel as if the ending kinda just happens out of nowhere and thats that. I feel like the group of human characters just dying at the end, for example, kinda feels like it was just thrown in just to add tension to the ending and I feel as if I probably would of been happier with the ending if things such as that weren’t thrown around so often in the final chapters. Another small gripe I had with this book was the confusing backstories of Fin and Mo. I liked the part where they were revealed to be human, but I feel as if their backstories go downhill from that point forward. Like, I’m still confused and left with questions even after finishing the book. The final problem I have with the ending where Fin and Mo decide to stay in The End. Like Fin and Mo up to that point were like, ‘we are going to break the cycle’, (I’m not going to explain the cycle, you are just going to have to read that by yourself) but then proceed to stay in the end even though the act of them leaving The End would literally break the cycle. This left me quite dissatisfied with the ending. -Now, I know that this review may seem like a lot of griping over this novel, but all these things are minuscule compared to the good parts of this book. Like, I actually did enjoy the characters throughly, and I just feel as if these characters deserved more that what the ending gave them. All in all though, even with all my personal gripes about this book, I still think that this book deserves 5 stars and a read.
