Morgan completes her From Manhattan with Love trilogy (Sunset in Central Park) at Christmastime, with a sweet, snowy take on the "opposites attract" trope that lets optimism win the day. Crime writer Lucas Blade's grandmother hires lonely Eva Jordan, a caterer, personal assistant, and unshakable romantic, to decorate and fill the freezer of his penthouse while he's away on retreat, but Eva discovers the whiskey-drinking, widowed, Scrooge-like Lucas in residence when she arrives. Eva becomes the inspiration for Lucas's new novel's protagonist, and though he takes the opportunity to shoot down her sunny worldview at every turn, she slowly convinces him to open up about his past and begins to thaw his heart. But their differences don't fire the relationship as much as pace it, and chemistry between the characters is weak. Though the stylized sparkle of Christmas romance comes though at the end, the triumph of those who love love is more about worldview and persistence than about passion, and it sometimes feels as though Eva is bullying Lucas into accepting his potential for happiness.

Snowbound with the horror writer
Sarah Morgan’s From Manhattan with Love series has been an absolute delight to read. The characters are well-developed and deserving of the HEA Morgan crafts. I’ve known from the beginning that sunny Eva was going to get her HEA with horror writer Lucas Blade. Watching it finally come to fruition in Miracle on 5th Avenue was even more fun than I’d expected. There really is something to opposites attract and they were the perfect pair. The holiday setting makes it even more season appropriate. If you are looking for a good snowstorm book this is it. You can easily read this one as a stand-alone, but why miss seeing Eva’s two best friends also find the men of their dreams?

Just Okay
I thought the beginning started off strong and it certainly piqued my interest. But as I continued I couldn’t help but feel Eva was annoying and pushy in wanting Lucas to love her. She was even pushy about sex! It also seems unlikely that a guy as messed up about love as Lucas would really do a complete 180 and propose at the end. It’s hard to enjoy a book when halfway through, you stop caring for the main character

I absolutely loved this book. I couldn’t put it down. Can’t wait to read more of Sarah Morgan’s books.
