Publisher Description

Alcott's narrator continually refers to Sylvia as a girl, as too young for marriage (although marrying around 17 would not have been uncommon, and Sylvia's older sister Prue later speaks on the virtues and benefits of marrying a man ten years her senior).

Hard to rate

This book is hard to rate because Louisa May Alcott is my absolute favorite author and yet I was really let down in a way by this book. The writing is easy to read and has awesome imagery and I couldn't stop reading until I found out what was going to happen. This book is missing the biblical morality most of her books are full of. Or it's there but made to sound like feelings are the chief thing to be followed in life. It was hard to get to the end and be like blah that was stupid!
