Charles Farrar Browne was an American writer, one of the brightest and most popular humorous men of 19th-century, known under his pen name Artemus Ward. Multitalented person, he profited not only from writings but also from lectures, which droll and eccentric author’s reading attracted large audiences and influenced on number of humorous writers. 

 “Moses the Sassy, or The Disguised Duke” was written in 1860 and represents the humorous short story about foreman named Moses. Narrated by name of an ignoramus, the writing is studded with malapropos, misspellings, grammatical errors.
