Publisher Description
Mother's Son is a poem exploring how a mother views her son and how a son views his mother, presented in seven stanzas of 12 lines each. Each stanza uses unique imagery centered around a particular bird (the first stanza, a black bird, the second stanza, a peacock, and so on) and that bird's relationship with its mother. The poem evolves over time, taking the reader from a 'young' bird to an 'older' bird who comes to appreciate what his mother means to him. The stanza are presented in chapters, each chapter breaking the stanza onto pages for first 3 lines, then 2 lines, then 5 lines, and the final 2 lines, for a total of 4 pages per chapter.
