Such An Enjoyable Read
I thoroughly enjoyed MR. RIGHT NOW, the first book in the Sven's Beard series by author Brenda Rothert, and was very much anticipating MR. ICE GUY, Holt's and Shea's story. This second book in the series has all of the same small town feel, with community and family being the themes, and plenty of the hijinx and shenanigans that made MR. RIGHT NOW so much fun to read.
Both Holt and Shea are straightforward, which I really like. They are open about their feelings for each other, the things that are important to them, and just generally likable and down-to-earth characters, which I really appreciate. While the suspense thread that was part of the first book was a lot of what made it such a good read for me, I really like that there is very little drama in this story, and how the personality of Shea, Holt, the kids, and Sven's Beard are the focus of the book.
This two-book series is definitely a departure from Brenda's sports romances (although, spoiler, there is hockey!), but don't let that stop you from reading them. There are just times when I want to see folks make their way to each other without all of the "extraness," and these books do just that. Make sure that MR. ICE GUY (and MR. RIGHT NOW, too, if you haven't read it) are on your TBR and enjoy. ❤️
