He’s barely given her a passing glance…

Shandi Flanagan has lived in Paxton Springs, Texas, her whole life. When the bar and grill she’s been working at since high school comes up for sale, she vows to find the money to buy it. But when her house goes up in flames, so do her entrepreneurial dreams. The only good thing to come of it? Being rescued by the hottest cowboy around, Jace Paxton.

Jace has his hands full finding a way to grow his family's vacation resort and tracking down the rustlers who stole his new herd of calves. At least being able to save Shandi, the town's favorite sweetheart, goes right. She needs a place to stay, and there's plenty of room on the Blackstone Ranch.

But he needs the bar and grill as much as she does. And while he's a formidable competitor...she's not. How can he take away her dream and future? How could she love him if he did?

Unbelievably heartwarming

Pam Crooks’ third book in The Blackstone Ranch series, My Kind of Cowboy, is a story of home and belonging. With believable characters who have heart and bring with that warmth, juxtaposed with tension and the machinations of greed brought on by drugs and addiction, this story is definitely a page turner. With so many plot twists and turns, this story serves to demonstrate the creative mind of Ms Crooks. I look forward to see what she has in store next...hopefully more from Paxton Springs, Texas.

My Kind of Cowboy by Pam Crooks

This book has everything! I knew this would be a five star read from the first chapter. There are a lot of secondary characters; some from previous books in this series. My Kind of Cowboy has angst (not too much, though), suspense/mystery, drama, and romance. And guess what? The romance aspect was a slow burn so the anticipation of that made this book not only better, but realistic and believable. Having both Jace and Shandi's POVs made this book even more enjoyable. There is nothing that frustrates me more or stalls my reading flow than when I have to guess at what the characters are feeling. So, having both POV's is a top preference for me.

This book is the third in the series featuring the Paxton brothers. I did not read the previous two (yet) and had no trouble at all following along. This book can definitely be read as a stand-alone. However, I became very curious about how two of the brothers met their future Mrs. Paxtons. As soon as I can, I will be reading those books.

Shandi is the town sweetheart. She truly fit that persona; always putting others before herself even when she had to work two exhausting jobs to pay bills and the pay off the debts her deceased father left behind. When Shandi sees an oppotunity to make her dreams come true, she jumps at it. Despite the fact she has little to no assets, Shandi doesn't give up. Not even when the crush of her life gets in the way.

Jace has known Shandi nearly all his life but recently has seen her in a different light. He wants to know her better, wants to protect her and take away her troubles. Even if it seems he is one of them.

The romance blossoming between Jace and Shandi is slow. But don't worry because there are others things taking place in the story that will have your full attention. Rustlers, arsonists, drug addicts, are all part of the mystery and intrigue of this book. I will say no more in the way of details.

The ending was perfect. The epilogue even better. Overall, My Kind of Cowboy is a memorable, and engaging story with all the feels, and I highly recommend it as a must-read.

This was actually my first book by this author. She has just gained a new fan. I cannot wait to read more of her books!

This is my honest and unbiased review and I thank you for taking the time to read it. :)
