Publisher Description
#1 New York Times bestselling author J.D. Robb presents an intense and terrifying new case for New York homicide cop Eve Dallas: one that will take her all the way to the city that named her-and plunge her into the nightmares of her childhood.
PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
Bestseller Robb breaks with one tradition in her 34th Eve Dallas novel (after Treachery in Death); "Death" is not part of the title, but otherwise she delivers precisely the kind of rapid-fire thrust and parry action fans expect from the near-future New York Police and Security Dept. homicide lieutenant. Serial rapist/murderer Isaac McQueen (aka "the Collector"), the first major bust of Dallas's when she was a rookie, escapes from New York City's Rikers Island prison complex 12 years into his life sentence and immediately resumes his depredations on young girls. McQueen uses a hostage to force Dallas to travel to Dallas, Tex., the site of her own horrific childhood, where he has prepared surprises for her. Working with the FBI, the Dallas PSD, and husband Roarke, Dallas leads the effort to recapture the wily McQueen. The deadly chess game between Dallas and McQueen plays out against multiple backgrounds, including shocking revelations from Dallas's past and the complex, passionate relationship of Roarke and Dallas.
Customer Reviews
One of her best!
Loved it. From beginning to end, it was truly one of her best. I love the way she has allowed the characters to grow and yet they always stay true to who they are.
Best of the Series - So Far
This is the most character-driven of the Eve Dallas books in quite a while, really focusing on Eve, Roarke, and the past coming full circle. I didn't count pages, but it seems, too, like the longest book in the series, and reads visually - you can almost picture it as a movie.
I read these books while traveling for business; they're great company in hotel rooms and airports. And while I'm not generally a huge fan of Nora Dodd's books, "JD Robb" is highly entertaining. Thanks for an action- packed ride, and I hope to be reading the next Eve Dallas book soon, though New York to Dallas will be a tough case to follow.
Another great one
Cleared up some unfinished finished business...couldn't put it down. Great read!
