My name is James Kallis.  At a time when intimate homosexual relationships were barely legal, pretending everything was fine became second nature to me.  I lived in fear because that’s what love meant to me.  Fear of punishment.  Fear of being outed.  Fear of being alone.  I was ready to end my life until I found solace in the arms of a stranger who was determined to change my life, and I became a member of the Chess Club before it even had a name.  With the help of my friends I discovered who I was and what I had to contribute, and I finally let my past go.  This is my love story.
