Notes on the Revelation

H. H. Snell discusses the Book of Revelation in close and studied detail, allowing the reader to gain a deep and meaningful understanding of the important messages in the text.

Using the entire New Testament to bolster his analyses, Snell delivers a detailed and convincing commentary upon one of the Bible's most difficult books. Snell commences with a historical introduction in which he discusses the depth of the Revelation text, and establishes how its obscurity and cryptic messages require proper examination. 

Before conducting his chapter by chapter analysis of the fundamental passages, Snell divides Revelation's contents into three parts: "The things which thou hast seen, and the things which are, and the things which shall be hereafter,". This chronological organization underpins his discussions, and the practical reflections decipher and clarify the symbolism and meanings. 

Perhaps crucially for Snell is the notion that the Book of Revelation contains passages with relevance in the present and future. Mankind's destiny, and the coming of Christ's reign upon the Earth, are important messages which all Christians should be aware of ahead of time. The dangers of Satan, whose presence is marked by several appearances in the text of Revelation, are likewise highlighted. 

In all, H. H. Snell's commentary of the Bible is an underappreciated and competent examination of the Book of Revelation.
