Disappointing Companion
I purchased the iPad iOS 6 Development Essentials by this author, and I'm learning quite a bit from it. However, that book referenced this one, so I purchased it and was disappointed. First, it's quite short, and a fair bit of the material is already covered in the iOS 6 book. Then, there were places where Objective-C specific syntax was shown in examples but not explained, for example the use of square brackets around class method calls. I'm disappointed that I purchased this book - the iOS 6 Development Essentials didn't really need this companion volume.
