Myrtle Reed – is a american writer, journalist and poet. She was born and grew up in a large family with three children in Chicago, Illinois. Myrtle was the youngest child and the only girl. During his lifetime, she wrote many great novels. She also wrote a series of cookbooks and published them under a pseudonym Olive Green.

History tells us about the life of Rose, her widowed aunt Frances Bernard and cousin Isabel. Their life changes dramatically in connection with the arrival of an old friend - Colonel Kent and his adult son, Allison. In the novel, there are many other characters, such as twins Crosby, who rejected the social order and a very unusual doctor, practicing non-standard methods. They interact with the main characters, changing their fate and creating the storyline.

The novel describes the life in terms of limitations. We live in a finite world and are trying to fulfill their needs within the narrow confines of our lives.
