Jessica and Troy’s exciting story continues in the second book of the HIDDEN SECRETS trilogy as passion and danger collide…
Despite Jess’s initial reluctance to get involved with ex-Marine Troy Carson, her friendship with him is growing to be something more. But love cannot exist without trust, and trust is something she can't afford—not when she needs to cling to the secrets of her past.
Not when she’s hoping to be part of her daughter’s life again. Too much is at stake if the truth gets out.
As Jess tries to put the pieces of her life back together after being wrongfully imprisoned for the death of her abusive husband, she recognizes her past life in a new friend. Refusing to let history repeat itself, Jess is determined to get her friend away from the man who is abusing her.
But in doing so, Jess’s past is at risk of being revealed, costing her everything she holds dear: Troy. Her daughter. Her life…

Wow! What’s storyline
One More Betrayal is the 2nd book in the Hidden Secrets Trilogy it’s also part of the Carson Brothers. While you don’t have to read One More Secret the 1st book in the series, I would highly recommended it. It does have some hard topics such as spousal abuse, suicide, losing of parental rights, PTSD and complex PTSD. So please check the warnings before you start. But, I must say Stina does a great job on these topics with in the storyline.
So I’ll start off and say that his book is a dual time line story. If we remember the first book It’s a story about two women. A set of Journals found by Jessica give us insight to who Angelique was. Angelique (past) was a SOE special operations executive during WW II. We see her life take a shift as she falls in love with the enemy all while still keeping her true identity a secret. See she her plight throughout the whole book. She was putting her life on the line everyday. But, that plot twist on her storyline Wowzers. So good. Jessica (present) is still trying to recover her life. Her past life has left her being a shell of the person she was before. She’s dealing with history of abuse, false imprisonment, and severe PTSD. She still having issues with trust and her past is still haunting her presently. These two women are so strong, fierce and determined to survive. They have so many similarities but just years apart. The story is full of loss, love, understanding, patience, heartbreak but also the continuation of the healing journey. It was heartfelt, emotional, and pulls at your heartstrings. Boy, did this story through me for loops and kept be on my toes. Stories, secrets and betrayal are laced through out the whole story. But, through it all Troy Carson (present day) ex-military is there supporting jessica, loving her, showing her grace, and being her fierce protector. This story He is a true protective hero and a rock for her , even when she pushed him away. Jessica is still keeping secrets in this book. And, just when you think she’s going to have brighter days, Bam, there is multiple plot twist. Loved seeing the family and characters from previous book make appearances and getting updates on them. The book ends on a cliff hanger, and what a doozie it is. I was not expecting that ending. I can’t wait to read the next book.
Wow!
I didn't think Troy and Jessica's story could get any more twisty, but it did! And again, I forgot it was part 2 of a three book series, as I coasted along towards the end. Ms. Lindenblatt doesn't shy away from the hard subjects, but she also never sensationalizes them either. Jessica is learning to open up more to Troy, and others, but it's definitely not all smooth sailing in her world. New surprises rock her and throw her off course within herself and with Troy. It's not unlike an emotional rollercoaster for the reader. The WWII storyline, for me, was getting in the way of our here and now couple at the beginning, but now I'm just as invested in Angelique's tale as I am Jessica's. I need to know not only what happens with the German officer but also the relationship with "Angelique's" sister! I'm not sure I have the patience to wait until May for the conclusion of this series!!
