One More Secret

One More Secret is the 1st book in the Hidden Secrets Trilogy it’s also part of the Carson Brothers series Book 2. You don’t have read the first book in the Carson’s Brother Series for this new series but I would recommend just so you can know the characters that are mentioned in this series. It does have some hard topics such as spousal abuse, suicide, losing of parental rights, PTSD and complex PTSD. So please check the warnings before you start. But, I must say Stina does a great job on these topics with in the storyline.

So I’ll start off and say that his book is a dual time line story. It’s a story about two women. A set of Journals found by Jessica give us insight to who Angelique was. Angelique (past) was a SOE special operations executive during WW II. She was putting her life on the line everyday. Jessica (present) is trying to recover her life. Her past life has left her being a shell of the person she was before. She’s dealing with history of abuse, false imprisonment, and severe PTSD. These two women are so strong, fierce and determined to survive. They have so many similarities but just years apart. The story is full of loss, love, understanding, patience, heartbreak but also the beginning of the healing journey. It was heartfelt and emotional, and pulls at your heartstrings. Boy, did this story through me for loops and kept be on my toes. Stories and secrets within more stories and secrets. But, through it all we also meet Troy Carson (present day) ex-military he befriends Jessica and then he starts to fall for her. He recognizes part of her issues and is so patient, loving, and helps her so much through out the story. He is a true protective hero. Jessica is still keeping secrets, but is slowly looking at brighter days with Troy’s help. Loved seeing the family and characters from previous book make appearances and getting updates on them. The book ends on a cliff hanger, and what a doozie it is. I was not expecting that ending. I can’t wait to read the next book.

I’m glad I’m not the only one who picked up this book not knowing it was a trilogy! But I’m also not sorry because I was engaged and enthralled from page one up to the cliffhanger. Yes, I said cliffhanger, but please don’t let that scare you off. If your new to either the author or story continuation through numerous books…see, that sounds better than triology Ms cliffhanger, right…I can all but guarantee you’ll be glad you tried out One More Secret.
Jessica and Troy are worth cheering for. Neither character is without a flaw or two, but I loved them. I’m not going to share much, but yes, there a secrets…more than one. But it what kept me coming back for more. That and the fantastic characters that come alive from the pen of Stine Lindenblatt. I give it a solid 4.5 stars.
