If you love historical romances as I do, then treat yourself to pleasurable hours of reading Pioneer Delight by Ramona Flightner, a gifted & talented author whose novels I’ve treasured for years‼️😍👏.
This story takes place in Ft. Benton, Montana Territory in 1873 & I love that all of Ms Flightner’s beloved characters of family & ffriends from the series are here to support Niall & Hettie, best friends with a close, easy camaraderie for the past 4 years, who realize they’ve loved each other from the moment they met❣️🥰🤗👍.
That’s when their struggles with trust & fear of abandonment rears it’s ugly head to raise doubt in their minds of their worth & if they truly deserve the love & affection of others -(doubts instilled in them by miserably cruel, selfish parents during their childhood)😱👎. It’s most difficult for Niall & Hettie to share what they consider shameful‼️
Seamus & Mary O’Rourke & Niall’s entire family of siblings do their best to help the couple, but in the end will Hettie choose new suitor Jacob or will she return to Niall & the bosom of the loving O’Rourke family & longtime friends like Madam Nora & A.J. & Bessie Pickens 🤔.

A good story!
The O’Rourke family has held a special place in my heart and I am so excited for each new book to join the saga! This story was sweet and certainly fun to read, but I can’t rank it among my favorite books she’s written. The characters are their same deeply passionate, lovable selves and Mary & Seamus remain my favorite couple with their abiding tenderness for one another, their wisdom, and the unrelenting support they offer each of their children and spouses. They model the very kind of love that I think we all hope to find in a lifetime. However, as for the main characters themselves, I had a little trouble connecting with their story the same as the other’s before them. I found their relationship roadblocks to be more frustrating than heartbreaking—but maybe I’m just used to the higher action and stakes in some of the other books, so this one seemed more trivial than monumental. Still, it’s a solid story, nicely written, and I think fans will still really enjoy it! As always, I’m excited to read more from Ramona Flightner!
