Page turning action and romance
I am in love with the Bad Boys Undercover series by HelenKay Dimon. I just finished Playing Dirty, book 1 with Ford and I could not put it down. It is one of those books that had me putting off all other obligations to get to the end. Dimon crafts an engaging story filled with mystery, intrigue, action, romance and smoking hot passion. It has it all!
Ford is a member of Alliance that is a bit of a wild card. Yes, he is smart and someone you can rely on but sometimes he veers off course to get things done. Sometimes he doesn't keep his superiors in the loop. He keeps the black ops team he leads on their feet. He is loyal to all of those he cares about and will stop at nothing to protect his country and do his job. Well, there is one thing he found he is willing to sacrifice his job over. Shay. She started out as a means to find her cousin but Ford was not prepared for the smart, sexy, independent landlord. She totally has him off his game.
I absolutely loved how Dimon writes her romantic scenes. The intimate scenes were all unique and different and continued to show us the love Ford and Shay had for one another, even before they realized it. Dimon is a rock star at writing those passionate love making scenes. Just the right amount of show and tell.
I enjoyed seeing Ward and Tasha from Running Hot, the novella that starts the series off, in Playing Dirty. The interaction between all the Alliance members was fascinating and really added to the story. I can only hope to see more of the boys in future stories. It's why I love to read series books.
If you are looking for a fast paced, sexy romantic suspense, give Playing Dirty a try, but be sure you have plenty of time carved out to read it because you won't want to put it down.
So So
Overall I thought the book was a bit predictable. I don't want to take away from the action, and some smart and witty dialogue in some of the action parts. However the smart and witty dialogue was lacking between our main characters. Shay comes off a bit passive and I like a bit more depth the female leads.
