I have married a mountain woman, he wrote. "None of your puny breed of modern femininity, but a remnant left over from the heroic ages, -- a primitive woman, grand and vast of spirit, capable of true and steadfast wifehood. Pollyanna is a best-selling 1913 novel by Eleanor H. Porter that is now considered a classic of children's literature, with the title character's name becoming a popular term for someone with the same optimistic outlook.
So glad to have read this book
The Disney movie is one of my very favorites and after watching the movie countless time in my 37 years of life, I read the book. I couldn’t imagine that the book could be better but it is and I am so very glad I read it. I finished it in 2 days and it was time well spent.
PBS just came out with a new version of PollyAnna and it is Waaaaayyyyy better than the Disney one. It is almost the identical story to the book. It inspired me to read the book and am very happy that I did.
I like the story, but John Pendleton is weird.
