She’s an old flame…and now she’s my boss.
I’ve been one of the top goalies in hockey for fifteen years. At this stage of my career, I should be winding down. Instead, I’m traded to the worst team in the league.
The same team my ex now owns.
Not only that, part of the deal is me being able to live in her guest cottage.
And that kind of proximity is dangerous.
In spite of everything, the chemistry between us is still off the charts.
But that’s not happening.
Between spending the summer with my nine-year-old daughter and gearing up to take on a leadership role with the Phantoms, I don’t have time for the drama that comes with getting involved with Harper.
Some things are inevitable, though.
All eyes in the hockey world are on the only female owner in the league, and if we’re going to make a power play, we need to work together.
But that means keeping our heads in the game, and our hearts out of the equation.

Another Great One!
I absolutely love Gabe and Harper’s story. Can’t wait to see what lies ahead for the LA Phantoms
Gabe and Harper
I received a complimentary early release e-book prior to release and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This is a book that I have been waiting and waiting to read since forever or at least through several books. And let me tell you it was just as awesome as I was thinking it would be.
If you have loved Cheap Shot then we met Harper in that book as she is Sloane's bestie, former mother-in-law and boss. Sloane is a BIG part of this book so I do suggest you read that book first. But if you don't, this book stands alone as well and is the start of a new series.
In Cheap Shot, Harper is struggling to get the Phantoms started and one of the key players she wants is her ex-husband, Gabe, who is a goalie. We also learn in that book that they were each other's first marriage, but Gabe has been married and divorced two more times and has a daughter. Where Harper, has only been married one other time, to her much older husband who has just died and left her the Phantoms. But her two stepsons, Tim and Eddie, have been fighting her for the team. All this happens in Cheap Shot. But its described in this book as well, and we also get to enjoy some scenes with Tim and Eddie as they try and stir up trouble.
In this book, the team is finally Harper's, and she bargains with Gabe to get him to join the team and move to L.A. She agrees to let him live in her pool house, because he has a messy divorce and not a lot of money. So not only are they exes but Harper is his wealthy ex who is not only his landlord but also his boss, and he also has a really cute 8-year-old daughter. Plus because of the divorce and being forced to move to a new team and new city he is extremely grumpy.
This book was a lot of fun. These two start out as enemies, they did not end their marriage on a happy note. But it was also a really awesome second chance romance with lotsa baggage on both sides. In addition, it was super fun watching Harper build her dream team.
