This is a me-moir of sorts, the history of Mark Hayes, although if his parents are within earshot he will tell you it is all lies and slander. Sex in the mud? Never. Stabbing himself by mistake? No clue. Thrown in jail? Stealing from the deaf? Becoming a hairdresser in the name of lust? Blasphemy! All that stuff about wearing grannies' clothes, frolicking in Germany and mother and daughter sexcapades all before the age of sixteen? Complete and utter spoof. Don't mention the first-class trip to Hong Kong to become a model either, just a fairytale. Particularly the part about waking up naked being hosed down by an angry Chinese man.
One thing for certain is that this book has everything you need for a laugh. So go on, buy it. See what all the fuss is about.

SUPER FANTASTISCH!
EXPECTATION: Looked forward to reading PreDumb the least. The thought of going through the archives of Mark's history didn't seem far as exciting or appealing as the more recent chronicles of howling mother and stalking daughter duos. In spite of this, I kept on like the die hard Randummie that I am, hoping by the time I was done Hayes would have released book #4! (stillllll waitinnnggg.. dose)
REALITY: After careful thought and consideration (really not exaggerating here.. I need to get a life.) I've come to the conclusion that Predumb is my favorite! It is HANDS DOWN the most well written, and thoughtful read OF THE RANDUMB TRILOGY, in fairness the most different too ( no worries, still slightly raunchy and very carefree, which is the magical Hayes combination, if you ask me)
PreDumb is ridiculously relatable, and witty! Despite documenting Mark's youth, this tale isn't without its fair share of sex, drugs, and Puff Daddy! From black turtle necks, Granvestites, and embezzling money to raging diarrhea and his tumultuous relationship with... His hair (I'm right there with you!) PreDumb's nostalgic vibe made me laugh until it hurt as I simultaneously reminisced about my own childhood mishaps only taking breaks to search for my old CD player and TLC and Spice Girl CDs-JUDGE ME!
Although Predumb is vastly different from RanDumb and Dumb-er, it still leaves you magically inspired to hop on a plane to seekadventure except this time instead of running to the Hollywood Hills you're googling flights to Cork and Hong Kong (with boxes of Immodium in tote.. thanks Mark!)
