Publisher Description
There has never been a book like John R. Stevenson’s Pursuing A Jaques-Dalcroze Education—Solfège, Volume I, Major Mode, Lower Pitch Sets & The Pure Rhythmic Modes. Currently in e-book format, it is both a comprehensive reference book and a solid training manual, with ample historical and theoretical context for Jaques-Dalcroze’s work.
Swiss educator Emile Jaques-Dalcroze is most often known for his “Eurhythmics” (or la Rythmique), a study of music through movement. His brilliant Solfége method, obscure for too long, now comes to life with this practical, innovative book.
Stevenson follows Jaques-Dalcroze’s logical design, developing pitch and rhythm skills concurrently. Numerous music examples and exercises provide practice with intervals, rhythmic modes, clef reading, sight-singing, improvisation and more. Stevenson has embedded audio files, interactive images, and a pop-up glossary, helping students to study independently or in group settings. Discover a thorough approach to music theory, aural perception, sight-reading, improvisation, and more!
