Real Christianity is written by the prominent politician and abolitionist William Wilberforce. The Church in England had sunk into a cultural nominalism, where the upper echelon of society began to only consider Christianity as the fashionable thing to do. Though Wilberforce confesses he is not a theologian of sorts, the state of the Church compelled him to address the matter. To Wilberforce, Christianity made claims on moral values, and manifested in justice–both in personal and public life.
