Publisher Description
They took Jacob for Believing.
Now I have to break into the one place no one ever escapes to get him back. Rehabilitation is a nightmare, a place where minds are broken and faith is eradicated. But I'll face any horror to save my best friend. Even if it means risking everything. Even if it means sacrificing myself.
If you loved the forbidden romance and fight against oppression in The Hunger Games, you'll devour the Unbelief series. This is book 1 of a completed dystopian survival series, set in a post-apocalyptic world with hints of romance. These books should be read in order, like so: book 1, book 2, book 3. The prequel God Wars may be read as book 4. Hard cliff hangers. The full trilogy is available as a bundle, ebook format only. God Wars: The Beginnings is separate.
★ "The society is a cleverly conceived and thought provoking one. I really enjoy these novels and Stone's style of writing."
★ "The writing is dynamic and fast-paced as is the action. Hard to put down! A new powerhouse for sci-fi! Highly recommend!"
★ "Haven't read anything like it, and I love books like that if I am interested in the story. Rarely do I find books like that."
★ "...the strong female lead is someone that can be looked up to. I especially love that you were able to integrate a strong moral tale with this dystopian world and have it not sound 'preachy' or condescending."

Needs Work
This book is not bad. It's unfinished. It seems like a "power right" to meet some sort of deadline. The author has this really good idea in their head, and is just rushing to get it all down before the idea flees. As a writer, I understand that. As a reader, it's a little off-putting. The book does not seem like it should be a short story like this is. The type of post apocalyptic/Panem kind of world it is trying to have falls short due to the, well, shortness. Books like these require world-building that just can't be achieved in 200 iPhone 6 screen-sized pages. There are many places that need to be dragged out a bit more. This seems like a very basic copy of a novel that requires a lot more editing. Speaking of editing, the grammar needs work, too. Some people overuse commas, some underuse them. This is definitely a case of underused commas. There are also other grammatical and conventional errors. Now for my last criticism, science. This is clearly religious fiction. Without reading the other two books, it's clear that religion and God is supposed to triumph over the system of science and logic. And that's cool - only I get this wretched feeling whenever I read the term "science" here that it's said with an undertone of disgust. That is definitely off-putting as well. Not all science is bad, yo. Scientists aren't all cold-hearted strictly logical beings that hate love and religion. My praise for this novel is, though, that it has so much potential. Even in this short read, there is a lot of development of character. Sinna seems like a very likable, mostly fleshed out character. There are a few instances where I question whether she would really make the choices she's making, but I would mostly chalk that up to the rushed writing. She is likeable and well-rounded. Even in the few pages where we see her and Jacob together, it is easy to believe that they love each other and are very close and Sinna would clearly go through a lot for her best friend. I admire that.
Now, after that large block of unseparated text, I feel as though I myself am rambling. I hope that was helpful.
