Great book!
This is the first book in this series, told in first pet pov by Janine and leaves you on a cliffhanger. This is an enemies to lovers with a slow burn to lovers series. I could even see this as a second chance romance. This story definitely held my attention and had my heart reaching out to Janine.
Janine and Luke were enemies in high school with secret crushes on each other. I loved the way that they met again after years passed from their high school days. I loved that after the first reunion incident, when they met again, Luke was the first to try and make amends.
I felt for Janine since she had a hard time fitting in while in school due to her social status. Even though she was picked on, she was always the better person, she grew stronger and kept her sweet and upbeat personality. I loved watching her put people in their place and showing no fear when most people wouldn’t. She always seemed to be in the wrong place at the wrong time and still for the most part didn’t let it bring her down completely.
I do wish that I would’ve gotten to see Luke’s pov throughout the book and certain situations to see how he was really feeling and handling things though. He was actually really sweet and caring towards Janine, even when he came off as a jerk, he had good intentions.
I can’t wait to read the next book and see what other obstacles Janine has to face before she can find love Luke.
