Rhetorical Criticism and Theory in Practice, 4th ed.

This is a super book to first learn about Rhet Crit and related studies. Helpful illustrations and examples in key chapters helped me understand how to understand analysis of movies, tv shows, speeches, and other forms of public persuasion.
