Publisher Description
From New York Times bestselling author Sandra Brown, Ricochet is a sultry Savannah thriller filled with murder, betrayal, and unexpected desire.
Detective Sergeant Duncan Hatcher is called to Judge Cato Laird’s opulent mansion after the judge’s trophy wife, Elise, shoots a man she claims was a burglar. But Duncan suspects her story conceals far more.
Despite warnings—even from his partner—Duncan is increasingly drawn to Elise, a woman whose beauty and secrets pull him into a dangerous investigation. Elise privately shares a shocking claim about Judge Laird’s involvement in a deadly conspiracy. Only as Duncan unravels the truth does he realize it may involve his nemesis, crime lord Robert Savich.
When Elise disappears, Duncan’s sense of duty and attraction collide. With new bodies turning up and loyalties shifting, he must decide what—and whom—to trust. Can he protect his career, his conscience—and the woman he wants most?
Ricochet blends steamy romantic suspense with high-stakes crime in Southern high society, offering twists, moral tension, and emotional heat set against Savannah’s haunting charm.
PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
No one does steamy suspense like Brown (Chill Factor), as shown by this expert mix of spicy romance and sharply crafted crime drama. Det. Sgt. Duncan Hatcher, a sexy Savannah homicide cop, falls hard for Elise Laird, a dishy damsel-in-distress, the moment he spots her at a police awards dinner. Too bad she's married to Judge Cato Laird, who consistently subverts Hatcher's efforts to bring local drug lord Robert Savich to justice. When Hatcher and his feisty partner, Det. DeeDee Bowen, are called to the Laird home after Elise supposedly shoots an intruder in self-defense, the desperate trophy wife confides to Hatcher that she believes her husband, a secret Savich crony, intended her to be the intruder's victim. Later, as the uncertain Hatcher grapples with his desires, Elise vanishes, leaving behind another dead body. Tight plotting, a hot love story with some nice twists and a credible ending help make this a stand-out thriller.
Customer Reviews
Not one of her best books
Even though ms brown delivers, the characters are weak and if you are like me who has read all her other novels, this one lacks a certain panache. The novels spins like her other books, lacking originality. If your a fan, you might want to read this to tic off your book list , but other than that, it's not worth a good thrill ride, very sedate.
Ricochet
There were so many holes in this plot I can't even count them. I can't believe the same person who wrote this also wrote Chill Factor. No more Sandra Brown books for me.
