Highly recommended
This book was previously titled The Promise. Maverick and Lily first meet in Road to Absolution when they were small children. They have been in love their whole lives. Both of their fathers are members of the Dogs of Fire MC. Lily is faced with an agonizing choice and decides to break up with Mav to save his future. When she breaks up with him he is floored and can’t figure out why she has a sudden about face on their relationship. Once this is resolved they face some other problems from outside forces. This might be my favorite book of Piper Davenport’s. We get a lot of cameos from other series she writes: Witness, Justice, Ryder, and Reese: A Dogs of Fire Story, as well as many of the Dogs of Fire. I absolutely recommend them all.
Meh
It’s was alright… didn’t understand the pint of the first part of the book. Felt like it could have been taken out and just started off with these two in their early adult years. It just didn’t have any spark I guess.
Okay to skip
When you start counting how many times a character says ‘Don’t make this a thing’, you have to question the writing & dialogue. I was looking forward to Maverick & Lily’s story but I had to force myself to finish this book
