Publisher Description

Love shouldn't hurt... at least, that's what everyone tells me. But when I'm with Ash? Not only does it hurt... but I beg for more.

Ash Livingston is Hollywood's bad boy A-list director. I'm Hollywood's hardest working unknown costume designer just starting out in the industry. A nobody... but I'm nobody with a big secret.

Never in a million years did I think he'd be my boss.
Never in a million years did I think I'd learn about the man beneath the persona.
Never in a million years did I think I'd fall in love with him.

I might be unknown... but when I'm with Ash, I feel seen. I feel heard. I'm somebody. Even if it is all just role play.

Wow!

This is book 2 in The Silhouette Studios series by Katana Collins. It can be read as a stand-alone, but it will be a better experience if you read book 1, Callback, first. We meet Ash in Callback, as he is the director of the film featured in that story. In this story, Luciana Rodriguez (Lucy), is working in the costume department on said film, and meets Ash, while he is meeting with her boss, who happens to have had a one-night-stand with Ash several months earlier, and wouldn't mind a repeat. She actually tries to force the issue, which doesn't go over well with Ash.

Nevertheless, Lucy is a breath of fresh air for Ash, and he is intrigued by her demeanor. Ash is having a rough time of it while directing this movie, as the scenes are not translating well onto film. 'Something' is missing, and his studio boss is calling him on it. Without giving away any spoilers, Ash has some introspection to deal with, regarding the death of his wife several years earlier.

Lucy has to deal with some introspection as well, as her mother exhibited a very negative example regarding marriage, and Lucy has to figure out the difference between submission and abuse. Lucy is also trying to keep her relationship with her uncle secret, so that there isn't any hint of favoritism regarding how she got the job on set. Her uncle is Ash's boss, and that has the potential for huge complications...

The story moves along at a nice clip, with some wonderful dialog included along the way. There are scenes that include characters who were featured in book 1, which is a huge plus if the reader is already familiar with these characters. There is a low-grade tension throughout this story that ramps up delightfully when needed. There are a few dramatic scenes as well, but only enough to express what the characters are going through.

Both of the main protaganists have past demons to confront before they find their HEA ending. Katana Collins does an amazing job of pulling the reader into each of these confrontations, and enabling them to experience everything alongside the main characters. She even figures out how to redeem Lucy's boss, which doesn't seem possible when she is initially introduced.

The ending is fantastic and it makes the reader wish that the next book was already completed! There aren't any cliff-hangers (thankfully!), and each book stands alone.

Loved, loved, loved!!

I could not wait for Ash’s story after meeting him in Callback. I knew that guy had some deep, emotional issues making him so...rough around the edges. Ms. Collins did not disappoint. This book was amazing!

Thinking of Ash & Lucy’s story makes my heart beat a little bit faster. It’s full of emotions that sent me swirling through all sorts of pain and pleasure and heartache and lust and letting go and learning and then loving again. I loved every minute of it.

Their story was an emotional one.
An intense one.
And most definitely, scorching.
Their connection is strong, their chemistry blazing hot.

Ash...so very smart and talented, yet vulnerable with so much to learn. And so much to let go.

Lucy...knows what she wants.
She won’t ever let anyone have control.
But with Ash, is she willing to hand it over?

They’re drawn to each other.
They learn from each other.
They need each other.

The talented writing of this author blows me away. Ms. Collins showed me Ash & Lucy’s story. I saw everything. I felt everything.

If you loved Callback, I highly recommend Role Play. This was a fabulous addition to the Silhouette Series!
