Roots, Rocks & Feathers

Ever think about reinventing your life in mid-stream? The author and her husband left the suburbs, two lucrative careers and moved to the Blue Ridge mountains in mid-life to begin a homestead.  Surprises, twists and physical dangers challenged them at every turn over the twenty-three year period this novella spans. In these pages, Cynthia vividly describes the panoramic landscapes, interactions with the local wildlife, the backbreaking work and the sheer will to persevere in the face of her husband's declining health as well as serious injury to herself. The homestead life constantly tests their resolve, bringing up raw emotion and doubt, tests their fortitude, alternating sheer joy and debilitating pain. In the face of it all, did they find their peace?
