Sanctuary 12
What a mixed bag. A fair amount I enjoyed, some things I did not.
When driving through the American southwest, it is jarring to hear the hum of the the cars "tyres" on the "macadam". There were a couple of other examples of British English throughout the story. It might have been clever to use those when the setting was in England and use the American English while in the States. There were various grammatical errors. They were jarring.
Much of the story reminded me of Neil Gaiman's "American Gods". But frankly, not as good. Then the extraterrestrial explanation for much of what was happening was disappointing and really, unnecessary.
So, the writing was generally good. The story flowed smoothly, mostly. It was often enjoyable. Ultimately, I'm a little disappointed and the length of the book with subsequent sequels indicates quite a saga that I just don't think I'll continue.
The Sanctuary.
Save yourself the trouble and wasted time and not read this piece of absolute garbage. It's truly pitiful!
