Publisher Description
The delightful and entertaining new holiday novel from the legendary author of dozens of treasured romances! This Christmas, visit the small town of Branding Iron, Texas, where it’s time for the Cowboy Christmas Ball and one irritable sheriff is about to get in the spirit of the season…and find love along the way.
Sheriff Sam Delaney is shouldering a lot as the lone lawman in the small Texas town of Branding Iron—and the widowed single father of six-year-old Maggie. Especially since Maggie’s determined that what her daddy needs this holiday season is a girlfriend. Suddenly Sam is hustled off to a meeting with Maggie’s schoolteacher—and surprised to discover the demure Grace Chapman is unexpectedly alluring. Then he’s roped into playing Santa at the annual Christmas ball, with the pretty Miss Grace by his side. It’s enough to make Sam even grumpier than usual—if not for the feelings sweet Grace stirs up inside . . .
Grace only wants to heal after her broken engagement. So why is she so charmed by the slow smile—and the surprising tenderness—of the town’s sheriff? Maybe because Grace is discovering that beneath Sam’s gruff exterior lies a heart as big as Texas, especially when it comes to the women in his life—like little Maggie. And now her… Which only has Grace hoping she’ll be Santa’s sweetheart for many seasons to come . . .
PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
Things get complicated when a student decides to play cupid for her commitment-phobic teacher in Dailey's humdrum fourth Christmas Tree Ranch romance (after Holding Out for Christmas). First-grade teacher Grace Chapman has just turned runaway bride for the second time. She moves to Branding Iron, Tex., to escape her sordid past, not to pick up with a new guy. Sheriff Sam Delaney's wife died only a year ago, but his daughter, Maggie, is so desperate for him to move on and get out of his funk that she goes on strike at school in order to get him into the same room as her pretty new teacher. Sam and Grace quickly catch on to the sneaky little matchmaker, but their attraction proves just as powerful as Maggie's meddling, and, unbelievably, they fall in love after a single non-date and one spontaneous kiss. Before they can move forward, however, Grace must deal with her daddy issues while Sam works through his grief. The pair rarely get a scene without Maggie present, and their relationships with her are far better developed than their flimsy romance with each other. The festive Christmas atmosphere softens the disappointment, but this is still best suited only for the most devoted series fans.

Must be made into a Christmas movie!
Definitely a Christmas movie should be in the works. Sam is the Sheriff of Branding Iron, Texas. He is a widow and raising his little girl Maggie. Maggie is such a sweetheart, she knows her dad is lonely and decides to play matchmaker. After going through a list of possible candidates Maggie has picked her 1sr grade teacher, Miss. Chapman.
Grace Chapman is fairly new to Branding Iron. She is fitting right in with the small community. She is also escaping from a almost wedding, the fear of commitment, cold feet and not her first time. Her student Maggie suddenly is acting out, she goes on a PE strike. Of course now she needs to meet with her parent. And so begins Maggie’s plan.
I am voluntarily posting an honest review after reading an Advance Reader Copy of this story.
Santa's Sweetheart
I received a complimentary copy of this book and I am voluntarily reviewing it.
WOW!!!! This should be a Hallmark movie. As I was reading the book, I was easily seeing the scenes float by like one.
This is written in a multiple POV format. It was really helpful here. I can better understand, connect with and identify with them.
Maggie lost her mother before Thanksgiving last year. They didn't celebrate it together as her daddy Sheriff Sam Delaney sent her to her grandparents so he could deal with the lost for a short time. This year Maggie wants her dad to have a girlfriend. Maggie decided that her school teacher Miss Grace Chapman would be the perfect candidate. Grace escaped the disaster that is her life. She cancelled her wedding really close to the date of the union. Grace has had two failed engagement. She feels like she is broken. Since her father cheated on her mother and left the family when she was young, Grace doesn't fully trust men to not be someone like her father.
Can Maggie get her Christmas wish? Will Grace put aside her fears to embrace a relationship with Sam? Can Sam even come to love another woman? Well you will have to read this book for yourself to discover those answers. There were just a few scenes that really choke me up. I would have to close the book a time or two to wipe a tear away.
While this is a part of a series, you don't have to read the prior ones to fully understand and enjoy this one. This story takes place about 15 years earlier than the prior ones.
This is a tender and sweet romance all about seconds chances , a precocious little girl and a possible Christmas miracle or two?
