For Charli Blake, being seventeen is a tough gig.
She's been branded a troublemaker, her reputation is in tatters and she's stuck in Pipers Cove, a speck of a town on the coast of Tasmania.
Thankfully, it's temporary. Her lifelong dream of travelling the world is just months away from becoming reality. All she has to do is ride out the last few months of high school, which is easier said than done thanks to a trio of mean girls known as The Beautifuls.
When Adam Décarie arrives in town, all the way from New York, life takes an unexpected turn. His arrival sets off a chain of events that alters her life forever, convincing her of one thing. Fate brought him to her.
Saving Wishes is the story of a girl who doesn't quite fit the life she's living, and the boy who helps her realise why.
APPLE BOOKS REVIEW
Rebellious teenager Charli Blake is dying to escape her dreary, rain-soaked hometown on Australia’s Tasmanian coast. But when a bright-eyed, idealistic New Yorker cruises into town in his fancy Audi and nearly hits her, Charli’s fate takes a dramatic left turn. Author G.J. Walker-Smith imbues her petulant character with spicy wit and disarming self-deprecation. Saving Wishes taps into our deep-seated desire to follow our dreams, find love, and ultimately learn self-acceptance.
Addicting and Relatable
They story was amazing and addicting. So many plot twists make it intresting throughout. Even though I dislike the fact the you have to buy the second book. The characters are so well developed even though i wish that there was more backround and insight into Adam's charater. Also another thing that made me frustrated was her relationship to her best friend, too much drama for there to be a believable friendship. And the amount of relevant characters was quite scattered. But the pros greatly outnumber the cons and make this book worthwhile. One of my favorite reads so far!
Can't wait to read more
When I first started reading I honestly thought I wasn't going to like the book. The more I read the better it got until I was completely absorbed into the story. At times the book is a bit too far fetched but makes for a great romance. I only wish the ending could have told more of a happily ever after.
I LOVED IT!
I have to admit, being that it was a book about a 17 year old girl and some guy randomly walking into her life,I thought it was gonna be your typical boy girl love story with much too much clichés and context far too trite to bare. I'm more than pleased I decided to read it anyway, this book is Brilliant! I was blind sided by every single plot and I'm usually the best at picking up on them less than half way into the story, this author is truly talented. The only thing I regret about this book,is that it ended. I will however be moving on to its follow up series.
