Even if he wasn’t a British officer, Deborah Morgan would detest the arrogant Kit Marshall! Being on opposite sides of a war alone should be enough to keep them at a distance, but injured men, murderers, and a scrappy little dog drive them together, forging unbreakable bonds of the heart.

A Fun Read with a look at History
This is the second of Jackie Waltons books that I have read. I enjoy her style and especially love the correct history that she weaves into the stories. The plot is good however she does leave some odd backstories just hanging. I wished she had fleshed out Mr. Morgans background a little and left out Kit reaction to some of the attacks. The reactions didn’t make any sense until much later and even then we were confused by motive. Character development is good but sometime choppy. The villians can be a little over the top but fun. Time line of the story is long so you do skip some months between chapters but this works. The history is great and accurate but incorrect on how some of the clothing works. No buttons down the back of a woman’s gown in this time period especially someone without servants. Same is true for men’s shirts, The buttons all the way down the front don’t come along for another 50 or more years. However neither of these points take away from a very fun read. I look forward to the next book by this author.
I truly loved
This book. It has it all, action, adventure, romance, humor, history, and a little sex. The lead characters Deborah and Kit were perfect for each other. War torn stories always get to me..... I did miss a good informative epilogue. I would have been nice to follow the couple to their new destination.
