We had the perfect arrangement. Friends with benefits. We didn’t get attached. Neither of us wanted more. Everything was perfect.
Until Mike became my boss. I couldn’t sleep with my boss. I had no choice but to end things with him.
He didn’t agree with me. Not only that, but he doubled down and said he didn’t just want to keep seeing each other but he wanted to take things to the next level.
Friends with benefits was perfect.
Friends with benefits was easy.
Friends with benefits was not enough. Not anymore.
The characters were ok, but either the author is elderly and completely unaware of the lawsuits this relationship would bring or she just hasn’t experienced the real workforce. Lexi would have lost her job if she were in a relationship with her boss. It has nothing to do with rumors and everything to do with policy and legality. Unless your novel is set in the 1940’s, let’s pay a little more attention, yeah?
