Not Good for Learning to Speak Italian
This book is just fine if you want to read stories in Italian and increase your ability to read more Italian books. But it won't really help you learn conversational Italian or how to write to people in Italian. To be fair, it didn't say that was what it was for. I had found a beginners book (not by this author) that did just that. Told stories in Italian using conversational Italian.
This book uses the Passato Remoto (Past Definite) verb conjugation tense most of the time. That tense is primarily used in formal writing and literature. So, of course, it’s perfectly correct to use it in a story book. But since that tense is quite different from other tenses, it isn't very helpful in understanding the Italian used in informal writing and conversation.
If I had done a little more research, I would not have bought this book since most every new verb I come across in it will not be used when I’m speaking to Italians.

I can’t get it to read to me in Italian because it keeps using Siri’s American accent with a lousy version of Italian. It sounds ridiculous. As far as the story, I haven’t gotten through enough of it yet. I will update if something good happens. Please note that I have a sample of this book as I have not yet purchased it at this time.
