Sister Carrie: a Novel

You have to start this novel by knowing it was first published in 1900 so the whole tone of this book will be different than most of what we read today. It is very, very long and repetitive. Dreiser has a tendency to include way more information than we need to know about his characters and he tells us more than once. We know most everything that they are thinking even tho it isn't always that interesting. Carrie is a unique individual even tho she may end up being like many humans searching for happiness and not knowing when they have it. You can get through this lengthy epistle by reading every other sentence. I was often bored, but it is an interesting read from one of our great authors.
