Smitten in Summer

Welcome (or welcome back) to the small town of Lost Harbor, Alaska! Yes, everyone knows everyone else’s business but there’s also a very touching sense of community.

In Smitten in Summer, we meet Trixie Tran, a young woman who appears as though she’s living a carefree life, wearing eclectic clothes and operating an ice cream shop filled with fun-named ice cream. But Trixie is hiding a life-changing event that happened when she was very young, away from Lost Harbor but now that past has reappeared in the town’s harbor.

But Trixie is not alone. She has her Harbor Hotties burlesque crew plus friends she literally grew up with in Lost Harbor and…Mac Brindisi.

Mac, along with his daughter, Piper, are in Lost Harbor for the summer where Mac has been hired to teach water rescue training to the local first responders. But when he first walks into the local ice cream shop with his daughter, it’s Trixie who catches his eye - both with her looks and her open, friendly and carefree personality. This is in deep contrast to his personality which can be summarized as military classified…so while Trixie is outgoing, Mac is more closed off.

Trixie notices the attractive man under the “dad sweaters”…even as she’s telling herself he’s only there for the summer and she shouldn’t get involved with him.

But, their mutual attraction is strong and when Trixie is confronted by the person at the root of her past trauma, Mac is there to support her…along with all of her friends in town.

This story is filled with great characters, a wonderful small town setting, romance and drama. Lots of fun getting to know Trixie and Mac, and the rest of the town!

This was such an amazing book. Trixie is the h and is a riot. She flaunts her carefree lifestyle and everyone in the town just love and accepts her. I thought Trixie was great and strong.
Mac is retired but teaching a water rescue course. He and his daughter, Piper, successfully steal Trixie’s heart. Trixie tries to convince herself that falling for Mac would not last long. Piper is adorable. Trixie owns the only ice cream parlor in town so everyone knows Trixie.
This book was romantic and funny. I could not get enough of Trixie and Mac! This is one of my first books by this author and I truly appreciate her.

Do you ever find a character that makes you smile every time you think about them? That's what I've found in Trixie Tran. What an amazing, courageous and unique woman she is. She's the type of woman you want in your corner, who will always have your back and will go to the ends of the earth for you. Can you tell I want to move to Lost Harbor and be best friends with Trixie (and maybe a member of the Lost Harbor Hotties)?

Jennifer Bernard takes us back to our favorite community of Lost Harbor, Alaska, where we catch up on old friends and meet a few new ones. New to town, Mac and his daughter Piper, arrive for the summer so Mac can train some community emergency staff for water rescue and he finds himself smack dab in the middle of Trixie's ice cream shop, her family and her latest problem. Funny, heartwarming and steamy, you can't but help falling in love with the story of Trixie and Mac as they find themselves smitten or something similar.
