INSTANT NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER!
“Very few authors have the power to make you laugh on one page and cry on the next. Moyes is one of them.” —The New York Times
A story of mix-ups, mess-ups and making the most of second chances, this is the new novel from #1 New York Times bestselling author Jojo Moyes, author of Me Before You and The Giver of Stars
Who are you when you are forced to walk in someone else’s shoes?
Nisha Cantor lives the globetrotting life of the seriously wealthy, until her husband announces a divorce and cuts her off. Nisha is determined to hang onto her glamorous life. But in the meantime, she must scramble to cope--she doesn’t even have the shoes she was, until a moment ago, standing in.
That’s because Sam Kemp – in the bleakest point of her life – has accidentally taken Nisha’s gym bag. But Sam hardly has time to worry about a lost gym bag--she’s struggling to keep herself and her family afloat. When she tries on Nisha’s six-inch high Christian Louboutin red crocodile shoes, the resulting jolt of confidence that makes her realize something must change—and that thing is herself.
Full of Jojo Moyes’ signature humor, brilliant storytelling, and warmth, Someone Else’s Shoes is a story about how just one little thing can suddenly change everything.
APPLE BOOKS REVIEW
A simple mix-up forces two women from very different backgrounds to reevaluate their lives. Jojo Moyes’ moving, madcap story centers on Nisha Cantor, who is trying desperately to hang on to her fabulous lifestyle after her ultrawealthy husband ditches her. But when Nisha loses a gym bag with her custom-made red Louboutins inside, her divorce settlement is put at risk. Struggling mom Sam Kemp is the woman who accidentally took the bag, and when she puts on those six-inch heels, she begins to seriously reconsider her own life. With her customary wit and warmth, Moyes explores the convoluted ins and outs of female identity and friendship—and everything else life throws at fortysomething women. Someone Else’s Shoes had us laughing and cheering for its smart, resourceful protagonists and their life-affirming connection.
PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
Moyes's charming spin on Trading Places (after The Giver of Stars) follows two 40-something women who end up with each other's shoes. After Sam Kemp accidentally grabs the wrong bag at her London gym and finds in it a custom-made pair of Louboutins, she takes to wearing the heels to business meetings and finds a new confidence among her colleagues. Meanwhile, American Nisha Cantor ends up stuck with Sam's sensible flats. Nisha returns to the hotel where she's staying with her wealthy husband, Carl, only to find he's locked her out and frozen her accounts, blindsiding her. Then the gym suddenly shuts down and Sam has no way to return Nisha's belongings, so she leans into her new life, avoiding her depressed husband and a boss who's out to get her. Meanwhile, Nisha takes a job at the hotel where she was once a guest, and Carl gives her the ultimatum to find the Louboutins, which he'd given to her, or forfeit any kind of divorce settlement. The plot leans a bit too much on convenience, but Moyes is never short on her trademark clever observations (of Sam: "There is a particularly vindictive tenor to the kind of hangover that occurs in your forties"). The author's fans will have a ball.

Fun read
Fun and delightful. An easy and interesting read
Slooooooow
It was a fun idea for a book but it was so boring that I couldn’t connect with the characters. I skimmed the last hundred pages just to finish. Cute ending but not worth the time reading it to get there.
Stupid premise. Completely unlikely story… so disappointing.
Have enjoyed her books in the past. This one however was a ridiculous stretch. Just silly.
