Publisher Description
From the author of Jurassic Park, Timeline, and Congo comes a psychological thriller about a group of scientists who investigate a spaceship discovered on the ocean floor.
In the middle of the South Pacific, a thousand feet below the surface, a huge vessel is unearthed. Rushed to the scene is a team of American scientists who descend together into the depths to investigate the astonishing discovery. What they find defies their imaginations and mocks their attempts at logical explanation. It is a spaceship, but apparently it is undamaged by its fall from the sky. And, most startling, it appears to be at least three hundred years old, containing a terrifying and destructive force that must be controlled at all costs.
APPLE BOOKS REVIEW
Michael Crichton was responsible for some of the most fascinating concepts in science fiction—like using DNA to bring dinosaurs back to life in Jurassic Park—and chief among them is the gripping premise of Sphere. The tension begins to mount practically from page one, when a team of scientists travels through the crushing pressure of the deep sea to investigate what might be an alien spacecraft on the Pacific floor. As the scientists face threats to their sanity and survival from the mysterious vessel, their inhospitable surroundings, and even each other, the story becomes increasingly claustrophobic and ominous. We were sucked into the crew’s frightening experiences—and the unsettling questions that their mind-blowing discoveries raise. A perfectly disturbing blend of sci-fi, horror, and psychological thriller, Sphere is the kind of heady book that can keep you up all night reading. Just be sure to take a deep breath once in a while.

Great book to very end
Edge of my seat.
Good Read
I liked it much better than the movie!
Saw the movie first.....
I started reading this book based on a reddit thread called "what movies do you absolutely hate that were based off of amazing books". Sphere came up in the top 3 so I decide to give it a read. I am not a sci-fi fan for the most part, so I didn't have high hopes for this storyline or the characters, but it was actually an enjoyable read.
The movie took a whole lot of context out of the books storyline, which I felt were critical to the movie as a whole. Anyway, read it... Good stuff
